She was abandoned in Penn Station, after which she was brought to Animal Care & Control. She was in such terrible shape that ACC did not even know what breed she was. She was also obviously abused by the male in the household that she came from. Posh Pets Rescue [Ms. London Pets] rescued her & put her into foster care. Her foster mom, Jessica, was incredible & I was blessed to have had her choose me to be her new forever mom. In the 6 months that I have had her she has thrived. She has gotten past all of her fears & now has a wonderful & happy life!
I never thought that I would ever be able to love a dog as much as I did my little boy, Zack, who I had to put to sleep at the age of 15 1/2. My famous line about him was that "no male was ever as happy to see me when I walked through the door"! He left a pawprint engraved in my heart. Thank you Linda & Jessica for allowing me to have a new pawprint engraved into my heart.

Linda & Posh Pets Rescue can be reached directly via her e-mail address MsLondonPets@aol.com

Funny For Fido Shelter Dog Video

This is the video that my son, Justin Silver made & played at his fundraiser for shelter dogs. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. I rescued a human today.

Community Board Meeting

This is the speech & part of the presentation that Beverly Seiger & I gave at the Community Board meeting. After addressing the Board, we were asked questions & explained why the area that we have is not sufficient. They were very receptive & many of them even asked where we were so that they could bring their dogs. Karen Koslowitz, Deputy Borough President, took a copy of our petition & contact info. She is going to help us. Lynn Schulman, Candidate for the NY City Council, also gave us her contact info and wants to help us. We were also given encouragement by Frank Gulluscio, the District Manager. Melinda Katz & her respresentative, Vicky Morales were also present.

Good Evening.

My name is Tracy Heller & I am attending this meeting with Beverly Seiger, President of The Forest Hills Dog Lovers Association. We are presenting you a petition with 650 signatures, to date, which says "YES! I support the Forest Hills Dog Lovers Associations efforts to create a successful dog run in Yellowstone Municipal Park located at Yellowstone Boulevard, between 68th Avenue & 68th Road.

I am on the Board of Directors of Birchwood Towers, which recently voted to become pet friendly. [We received applause after this comment]. We recognized that not only do pet friendly buildings increase the value of the apartments, but that pets enrich a persons life, heart & soul.

We are asking for this dog run because just some of the many benefits of enclosed dog runs include:
Puppies and adult dogs would have a safe(r), enclosed place to play.
Enclosed play areas prevent off-leash dogs from infringing on the rights of other community residents and park users such as joggers, small children, and those who may be fearful of dogs.
By their mere presence, groups of dog owners (and their dogs) help deter crime, and frequently act as the eyes and ears for the police.
A well-exercised dog is a happier and healthier dog.
An exercised dog makes a better next door neighbor than an under-exercised dog. Puppies and dogs which get enough exercise by playing in a dog run, are less likely to create a nuisance, bark excessively, destroy property, jump on a passers-by, etc.
In an era where people are often reluctant or afraid to approach or converse with a complete stranger, dog runs bring people together and create a greater sense of community. Dogs help shy people "break the ice". People's love for dogs often creates an important common ground, which as if by magic, serves to break down otherwise impenetrable social and economic barriers. Dogs, and dog runs, are in fact responsible for many a lasting friendship between those who might never otherwise have met.
It is no longer fulfilling the needs of the community by not having a dog run in Forest Hills. It has been proven that pets offer emotional support to Seniors. They also need an accessible & convenient place to bring their dogs. Yellowstone Park is a perfect location. I wish that you could see how many children & seniors come over to play with the dogs when we are in the park & how happy it makes them. We need this dog run in our community!
Thank you for your time.
